People:  We are an Oregon company managed by very dedicated employees, with the goal to make the healthiest pet foods possible for all dogs and cats.  Our Steve's Real Foods raw frozen dog foods have been on the market since 1998 first selling locally in Eugene, Oregon.  Our CEO has been in the pet food industry since 1978, and has seen the negative effects of feeding dogs & cats cooked grain-based pet foods.  We do not make cooked or grain-based diets (dry kibble or canned pet foods); we are dedicated to and truly believe in natural raw whole food nutrition. Marketing for most pet food companies is extensive and expensive, where most of our advertising comes straight from the customers mouth.  We use only 100% of the best ingredients, the most innovative technique’s in manufacturing and most convenient packaging.  Also, all income goes right back into the company as improvements & product development, not to shareholders, because we want you to see the value of Steve’s Real Food in each bag for your dog or cat.

Feeding Trials:  We are a humane and cruelty-free pet food manufacturer.  All tests are done through veterinary feeding trials and feeding our own dogs and cats.  As animal lovers ourselves we would never condone the abuse of animals for any reason.  You can find our customer success stories and veterinary feeding trial results @ Steve's Real Food customers share their success stories.

Ingredients:  We buy only the highest quality human grade ingredients all inspected and certified by the USDA.  We use only cage free and hormone free poultry.  The farmers we buy from only use antibiotics to treat their animals if they show signs of illness.  Antibiotics are only used under direct veterinary supervision.  Cage free animals are very healthy and rarely become ill.  If a veterinarian prescribes antibiotics, the animal that received antibiotics is weaned off of the medication several days before processing and tested for antibiotic residue in its system.  If antibiotics are found to be present, the animal is not processed. 

We use Wild Pacific Salmon in our cat food.  Also, we only use only select beef, all free range, grass fed, 100 % hormone, 100 % antibiotic free and USDA/BSE certified & inspected.  All companies provide safety guarantees right from their websites.

We research and inspect each company we buy ingredients from to ensure quality, safety and humane treatment.  Our food is rich in 100% pesticide free vegetables and fruit (eating high quantities of vegetables and fruits have been shown to be the best way to prevent cancer.  They provide the know & unknown micronutrients nature has to offer).  Where do we buy our ingredients?

Manufacturing:  Our food is manufactured under USDA and HACCP guidelines, below freezing at least -27 degrees, and on sterilized processing equipment to prevent any possibility of contamination.  Every person that enters the facility wears sterilized clothing and footwear, hair nets, and gloves.

Product Testing:  We regularly test our foods for Salmonella, E. coli 0157:H7, & Campylobacter to ensure our products safety.  We also test our foods for pesticides (our food sources are of such high quality that bacteria and pesticide residues are very unlikely, but we love our pets too much to take any chances).  We then flash freeze at -50 degrees our foods to eliminate the possibility of parasites.

Nutrition:  We work with veterinarians to test the effects of our foods in helping to cure or alleviate symptoms associated with allergies, hot spots, arthritis, obesity, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, kidney stones, bladder infections, and much more.  We are studying the latest nutritional research and science to ensure our products continue to be the healthiest pet food possible.  We have tested our products to ensure that they have the correct phosphorus/calcium ratio, omega 3:6 ratio, fat content, protein content, fiber content, and that our food is not lacking in any vitamins or minerals or in excess of any vitamins and minerals.  This is very important when feeding an animal the same thing day after day.  Research has shown that if balances are not met, it can be detrimental to the animal’s health.  Canines and Felines are different species and we have formulated separate diets to meet their individual needs.

Convenience:  We offer a 2.5lb bag or choose a 10lb bag to help make our food more affordable and to decrease packaging waste.  We also have available in our same formulas 7oz foil bags of freeze-dried Steve's for when camping, traveling or just don't have a freezer.  Our food comes in small ¾ inch cubes/nuggets which are easy to feed and thaw.  There is no cutting, mashing, or any other work required to feed Steve’s Real Food For Pets.  Just pour into a bowl, cover, thaw (if you want), and feed.  This limits the possibility of contamination in the home and of the home.  No bloody messes, no dirty cutting boards, no dirty counters.  Your family is safe with Steve’s Real Food For Pets.

Transport:  Most Steve's products require special handling delivering on freight trucks nationally to ensure continuous freezing at -27 degrees.  When thawed, our food loses its nugget / cube shape which is a great indicator of how it was transported.  When a patty, chub, or medallion is thawed for the same length of time it will retain its shape, leaving the customer unaware of how that product was transported.  This could possibly pose a health risk.
