11-year-old Mini Schnauzer

Share the Post:

Our sweet boy Toby is an 11 year old Mini Schnauzer. The summer of 2023 he started having stomach issues that continued to get worse and to the point he was vomiting multiple times a week or sometimes multiple times a day. He wasn’t eating, losing a lot of weight, he was always seeming to ache, and could barely make it through short walks around our neighborhood. We took him to the vet over and over again and tried different kinds of kibble, “prescribed” kibble from our vet, and even cooking chicken and rice for him. We couldn’t figure it out, and we started to worry and mentally prepare that we might only get another year with him at best with how quickly he had gone downhill. We felt like we had tried everything.

Our groomer suggested Steve’s after our appointment this past April, and it has been a complete change in the dog we have. He loved the food immediately and has not thrown up a single time since we made the switch. His bloating went away in just a few days, he’s slowly put weight back on, and has more energy than we’ve ever seen. It makes us so happy to see him go back to running around and chasing younger dogs at the dog park and that big smile on his face. The most interesting thing we’ve noticed is that even his behavior has changed. He used to be very reactive and now hardly barks at anything. He used to hate being groomed, having his paws touched, or being picked up at all and now he doesn’t just allow it, but he loves it. His coat is so soft, and you can tell that he isn’t hurting anymore. He looks forward to each and every meal instead of sniffing it and walking away. We feel bad that we didn’t find this sooner and that he had to suffer for so long, but we are also so happy to have found Steve’s. It’s given us our puppy back and we can’t thank you enough for what you do.
