Yes, a dog’s digestive system is designed to handle raw chicken meat, bones, and organs. People are often concerned that raw chicken can give their pet salmonella. The FDA has enacted a zero-tolerance level for Salmonella in pet food after the Food and Safety Modernization Act went into full effect in the U.S. This means that no detectable levels of salmonella is acceptable. Every batch of raw chicken pet food we make tested for salmonella and other bacteria before being shipped out. This rule for pet food is even stricter than for chicken you buy in the grocery store, which allows the frequency of contaminated chicken parts to be 15 percent or less. Even when companies wash chicken carcasses after slaughter, the USDA has found salmonella bacteria on about a quarter of all cut-up chicken parts heading for supermarket shelves.

My dog LOVES this! I can’t believe how much he has changed his relationship to food because of it. He use to spit his kibble everywhere and would eat a little bit at a time. He was unfocused when eating and was often looking around (he’s a goof ball). But now he is focused on eating and cleans his bowl. He licks his lips for about 5 minutes after he’s eaten. We stretched it a bit by combining it with his normal kibble too. It’s really heart warming to see how much he loves his food and know its way healthier for him too. Happy dog, happy human 🙂

My dog loves the Steve’s freeze dried chicken! The freeze dried is so convenient since it’s shelf stable and easy to take on the go for traveling too. I just break up the nuggets into smaller pieces, rehydrate it with some beef broth (or water is good too) and he finishes his bowl as soon as I put it down. His coat is soft and shiny, his eyes are bright and teeth are tartar free.
